I was waiting to post this review as I haven’t actually finished this series, but now that I know I’m DNF’ing on the fifth book, I think it’s time.
The Plated Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy started off very strong. I ate up the first three books (Gild, Glint, and Gleam) very quickly and looked forward to starting each new one. However, around book four (Glow), I started losing interest. The world-building is excellent, and the politics are intriguing, but it almost feels as if our main love story is over (trying not to give any spoilers).
I finished up books four and five (Glow and Gold), and I honestly skipped a lot of book five. I was having a hard time wanting to come back to it, and now I feel the same about book six (Goldfinch). I’m going to skip to the end and see what happens to satisfy the inkling of curiosity I have left, but I will not be reading the rest of Goldfinch.
Depsite my criticism, though, I would absolutely recommend anyone read at least books one through three and give the rest a try.
Links to all six books are on the “All Links” page under Books.
