I think we all can agree, no matter your views on feminism, men in literature are (currently) under-represented. Yes, I know the facts of the past and all that, but men have been shoved out of literature in the last decade, and I think we’ve forgotten how fresh a different voice can be.

Regardless of your opinion, you cannot deny that Pierce Brown has a way with words, to say the least.

Red Rising is just… everything to me. In the three weeks it took me to read the original trilogy, it quickly became very near and dear to my heart. I wish I could’ve read this when I was in middle school, fresh out of the Hunger Games reading slump. However, I’m glad I got to read it at this point in my life, when nearly every world-building fantasy or sci-fi novel felt copied-and-pasted from its predecessors.

Each and every character was given so much depth. I just know Mr. Brown has a whiteboard or something with thousands of facts, traits, and backstories for each and every one of them. Something so simple, like keeping track of each characters attributes, elevates a book so much.

I decided to save the rest of the Red Rising books for the release of the final book, and I’m glad I did. I hate waiting, and I have a feeling that waiting for that release will be a burn like no other.
